Lyft Now Accepts Pre-Tax Dollars for Your Commute

According to a recent announcement by Lyft, they are now accepting pre-tax dollars for our commutes.
Lyft has partnered with WageWorks®, Zenefits, Benefit Resource, Commuter Benefit Solutions, and Navia to help make commutes easier, without breaking the bank. Starting today, in New York City, Boston, Seattle, and Miami, you can use your pre-tax dollars to pay for Line rides to and from work — and save up to 40%. You heard that right: Door-to-door commute rides that run on your schedule.
How It Works
- Add your commuter benefits prepaid card as a payment method in the Lyft app.
- Before requesting a ride to or from work, select Line mode and set your commuter card as the payment method.
- Hop in. You’ll be matched with a vehicle that can fit up to six passengers, all traveling the same way as you.

Here’s What You Need to Know
Which benefits providers are supported?
We work with WageWorks, TransitChek, Benefit Resource, Commuter Benefit Solutions, Navia, and Zenefits. If your employer has a different provider, you won’t be able to use your pre-tax dollars to pay for Line rides at this time.
Where is this available?
Right now, only Line rides taken in the New York City, Boston, Seattle, and Miami areas can be paid for using this new payment method. They’re looking forward to making it available in other cities soon.
Don’t have a commuter benefits prepaid card?
No problem, you’ll just have to change your elections. Go to your benefits provider’s website, log in, and select the prepaid card option. For additional assistance, simply reach out to your employer or benefits provider.
